What GCash says about gambling transactions
In GCash’s own terms and conditions, gambling merchants aren’t subject to any blanket ban, with the nearest match being a clause against pyramid and Ponzi schemes. The restrictions in place owe their existence to the regulator. Via BSP Memorandum M-2025-029, dated 14 August 2025, every BSP-supervised institution was given 48 hours to remove links and redirects to gambling and gaming sites built into apps; GCash’s GLife Games top-up and withdrawal feature was withdrawn effective 16 August 2025.
Around 3,200 merchants who abused GCash’s QR system to redirect users toward illegal gambling and scam sites have reportedly been blocked, a separate matter from its zero-tolerance policy on illegal gambling operators. As a result, illegal-gambling-linked merchants and in-app gaming top-ups are both kept in check. Neither permission nor prohibition is expressed here regarding GCash funding a licensed casino’s cashier.
